July – Shows, Sessions, and Social Buzz

July was a busy and rewarding month for our association, filled with opportunities to showcase our members’ skills and share our passion for beekeeping.

Several members took part in and exhibited at the Great Yorkshire Show, one of the finest honey shows in the country. We were delighted to see WPBKA members winning multiple prizes, a fantastic reflection of the hard work and dedication that goes into maintaining healthy colonies and producing quality honey.

Earlier in the month, on Saturday 28 June, Ivor and Mark hosted a beekeeping taster session for individuals who had expressed interest in joining our fully booked beginners’ course but were unable to secure a place. The session gave them a hands-on introduction to beekeeping, allowing participants to experience life inside the hive and ask questions about getting started in the craft.

Later that afternoon, Julie Oxley organised a social gathering at the apiary, which was well attended and enjoyed by all. It was a lovely opportunity for members to relax, exchange ideas, and strengthen the sense of community that keeps our association thriving.
