Members of Wakefield and Pontefract attended the world bee day event at Thornes Park on Sunday 19 May. The event was organised by Mindful Movers a charity in Thornes Park and the other groups on site also attended, Wakefield College Horticultural Team and Open Country.
The weather was glorious and there was a good turn out with lots of engagement with the public.
We had an observation hive, virtual hive, honey tasting and sales and Asian Hornet awareness.
I would like to thank the following members for making this a huge success.
Graham Browster, Michael Sykes, Richard Thompson, Melvyn Hallas, Julie Oxley and Josephene Anderson from Halifax BKA.
As well as promoting the craft of beekeeping and Asian Hornet Awareness, we raised funds for the association through the honey sales, selling 27 jars of association honey and £19.45 commission through the sale of members products.
