On the evening of Saturday 15 August, members gathered at the Thornes Park apiary for a relaxed summer social. There was good food, good company and plenty of bee talk, and it was a chance for newer members to put faces to names.
Several members have said how much they enjoyed it, and we hope to keep the momentum going over the winter.
What members would like to hear about
We used the evening to ask what you would like from the winter programme. Suggestions included:
- Commercial beekeeping and the business side of keeping bees
- Insurance
- The yellow-legged hornet
- Pests and diseases, including European and American foul brood
- Overwintering bees
- Nuc production and queen rearing
- Mead making
If you have ideas for a speaker or a topic, let us know through our contact page. Winter meetings take place on the last Tuesday of the month at 7.30pm at The Brig in Altofts. See the winter programme for details.
